10 years of One Direction

It has been a decade since Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson formed together on The X Factor to become One Direction.

The five-piece were formed as a group on The X Factor in 2010 after having entered as individual performers, and soon signed to Simon Cowell’s Syco Records company.

From baby-faced young singers, the group went on to become one of the biggest acts of the decade from topping the charts to touring the world.

One Direction are celebrating their 10th anniversary by launching a new website containing a string of celebration videos, archived behind-the-scenes footage and a playlist for fans to enjoy.

In 2015, the band of five became four, when Malik quit in the middle of a world tour, citing stress.

One Direction went on as a four-piece, but later that year announced they were to go on hiatus… where they have remained until now.

The pop act broke their two-year Twitter silence on Wednesday, to announce: “Tomorrow! You and me got a whole lot of history #10YearsOf1D.”
