Buckingham Town Council has announced the launch of their local art installation: “Totally me, Totally Buckingham”.
The installation is held as a part of Buckingham Fringe Week. It lasts for two weeks and is now on display to the public in the town centre along the cattle pens.
“Totally Me, Totally Buckingham” features 450 unique pieces, painted by a range of members of the local community.
Every participant was invited to paint a small disc that represents who they are as individuals, creating a diverse and colourful array of artworks. This helps to tell the story of a collective community.
Councillor Robin Stuchbury explained: “The Buckingham Town Council event committee have been working with officers to provide art projects within the community… We have been doing more such activities because we recognise there is a need for free family activities, to support families with the rising cost of living which are inclusive to everybody and directly support our community we represent.”
It will be on display until July 31. This gives an opportunity for residents and visitors to explore and appreciate the creativity decorating the High Street.
Participants came together from many different communities, including primary and secondary schools, care homes, Buckingham Town Council and Buckingham University.
Last year’s Buckingham Fringe Week was a success with a range of activities also available, including family fun days, a jumble sale, comedy night and art in the market. The art in the market will return again in 2024, offering another opportunity for residents to get involved with the art installation.
