Latest data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show that UK’s increasing rate of coronavirus cases appears to be slowing down.
As the number of Covid-19 cases continues to rise, the growth is stabilising. On 30th October, ONS stated that the daily infections have been levelled at around 50,000, which means 1/90 people in the UK has Covid-19. The statistics only show infections in the community and does not include cases in hospitals.
The number of infections remains between 1.1 and 1.3 which was the same as last week. This means that on average 10 people infected will infect between 11 and 13 other people. However, Oxford University professor, James Naismith stated that the new findings were “encouraging” and that there is a decrease rate in spread of the virus.
As of Thursday, the UK is currently in lockdown and experts hope that the number of new infections will decrease.
