Remember the shy middle-aged lady whose performance in Britain’s Got Talent back in 2009 left us slack-jawed in amazement when she sang I Dreamed A Dream from Les Misérables?
Yes, April 1 marks the 60th birthday of Susan Boyle – and, despite the inauspicious date, she’s proved to be nobody’s fool when it comes to her music.
Born when her mother was 45 years old, Boyle was the youngest of four brothers and five sisters.[She was raised thinking that she had been briefly deprived of oxygen during a difficult birth resulting in a learning disability. However, she was told in 2012–13 that she had been misdiagnosed and has Asperger’s syndrome .
A singer from an early age, her debut studio album, I Dreamed a Dream, was released in November 2009 and became the UK’s best-selling debut album of all time. She went on to perform at Windsor Castle for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Pageant.
Now she’s worth £22m and has sold 19 million records.
No foolin’.
