Marking its milestone 10th year, the Buckingham Food Fair returned on February 24, attracting a record of 1,975 people inside the Community Centre.

The centre was packed with new and returning food stalls and multiple food trucks positioned around the building. Visitors had the opportunity to taste and purchase some of the best food and drink local traders had on offer.

While most of the food traders came from within a 30-mile radius of the town, the event also celebrated all the restaurants and venues in Buckingham. Each trader showcased their products and customer service with many selling out of stock on the day.

The 500th and 1000th person through the doors received prizes in the form of a Buckingham Magnet and a voucher for The Grand Junction, one of the winners of last year’s Buckingham’s Favourite Dish Competition.

The Buckingham Favourite Dish’ stall returned with hundreds of updated Foodie Buckingham maps foodie maps of food trader in town and materials to vote for their favourite Buckingham dish, to which the winners of the competition will be announced soon.

To add to the festivities, the council launched the Buckingham Bakes Competition, inviting bakers of all ages to showcase their skills. At 12pm, judging for the Buckingham Bakes Competition took place inside the Community Centre.

Cllr. Anja Schafer, Mayor of Buckingham along with Cllr. Fran Davies and Maggie Dyke, a member of Buckingham Women’s Institute served as judges for the competition. They awarded certificates and rosettes to the winning participants: Eliza, Harry, Phoebe, Lucy, Adeela, and Derek.

Lead Councillor for the event, Cllr. Fran Davies said: “People come back time and time again because they love this event, they think its very friendly and happy event and seeing people from the town as they are leaving with smiling faces and bags [filled with] lovely produce to take home is amazing.”
