First edition Harry Potter book was auctioned for £60,000, according to the BBC.
A rare copy of the first edition Harry Potter book, which was one of 500 hardback copies, has been sold for £60,000 at auction in Hansons’ Staffordshire Library. The seller said he was planning on using the money to pay off his daughter’s student loans and found the price the book had reached as “astonishing”.
He said, ” The Harry Potter books are truly iconic…and this first edition can only increase in value in the future.”
The buyer was an international bidder calling through the phone, and it was the highest price ever paid for Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
