Horror as 39 found dead in back of lorry
A man from Northern Ireland has been arrested after a truck he was driving had 39 people dead discovered in the back of the trailer the truck was towing.
The truck was said to have been registered in Bulgaria which has been confirmed by the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry and then is said to have travelled from Dublin where it got a ferry to the port of Holyhead where after an extensive journey it pulled into an industrial park at Grays, Essex.
The discovery has sparked international shock with the Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar saying: “it is a real terrible and human tragedy and we will carry out any investigations necessary if its established that the truck did through Ireland.”
The Prime Minister and Home Secretary have both expressed their horror over the news with the Prime Minister saying he is “appalled by the tragic incident in Essex” and Priti Patel saying she is “shocked and saddened by this utterly tragic incident”.
