Barcelona FC’s president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, said it was “unfeasible” to re-sign Neymar in the current economic climate caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Bartomeu said that the club lost £180 million between March and June. Not only Barcelona, but many big European clubs have been affected by the current situation.
Neymar joined Paris Saint-Germain FC in 2017 for a world record of £199 million. Barcelona tried to re-sign the player last year. Bartomeu also stated that if the pandemic continues to worsen throughout the 2020-21 season, the club will continue to lose money due to having no spectators as well as closure of museums and stores.
