Mason Greenwood, a football player for Manchester United, has been charged with attempted rape, using abusive behaviour, and assault, according the BBC.
The forward was detained in January as a result of accusations revealed in online photos and videos.
On Saturday, he was taken into custody once more for allegedly violating his bail.
The charges allegedly involved the same female complainant, according to the prosecution. On Monday, Mr. Greenwood is scheduled to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court.
The 21-year-old, who has played once for England’s senior men’s side, has not participated in any games or training sessions with Manchester United since his arrest.
He lost his sponsorship from Nike, and Electronic Arts took him out of the Fifa 22 game’s active squads.
Since the charges were first made, the forward has not competed for Manchester United.
According to Janet Potter of the Crown Prosecution Service North West, charges against Mr. Greenwood for attempted rape, using coercive or controlling behaviour, and assault causing actual bodily harm have been given to Greater Manchester Police.
The claimed assault happened in December of last year, while the alleged rape allegedly took place on October 22, 2021.
The alleged use of coercive and controlling behaviour spans from November 2018 until the present.
According to Ms. Potter, the accusations were brought after a review of a police file by rape-specific prosecutors.
The Crown Prosecution Service emphasised that the defendant is subject to ongoing criminal procedures and has a right to a fair trial. It is crucial that there be no online reporting, criticism, or information sharing that could in any way harm those proceedings.
