Moretonville Football Club has rebranded and is now known an Buckingham FC Youth.
This news follows the merge between the Buckingham adult teams in July 2023, creating the now playing Buckingham FC.
At present, there are more than 500 children playing for the club. They have 30 teams offering football from ages 5 to 18.
Merging to Buckingham FC, creates more opportunity for coaching and player development, and stronger links in the football community. This also makes the transition from under 18s to adults much easier.
Alongside the announcement of a new name, comes the creation of a new kit. This will be revealed at Buckingham FCs second qualifying game against Brook House, at their home ground Stratford Fields.
For now, management will stay separate, but a shared identity helps the development of youth players.
Dean Woodham, chair of Buckingham FC Youth said: ‘Closer links, and a shared identity will increase opportunities for players, families and the wider community to support, enjoy and develop football in Buckingham.’
Moretonville FC had been running for 55 years seeing thousands of children progress through the club.
Woodham continued: ‘Whilst there is some sadness at saying goodbye to a historic name, this partnership is part of the proud tradition of grassroots football in the area joining forces.’
