A woman has pleaded guilty to killing her two children in a motorway crash while drunk according to BucksFreePress.
Mary McCann was driving on the M1 with her two children Lilly, aged four, and Smaller, aged ten when she crashed into a Scania HGV.
The two children died in the smash which happened between junctions 14 and 15 on the M1 near Milton Keynes on August 9 at 11.10pm last year.
The 35-year-old was charged shortly after the crash when officers discovered she was drunk.
However, McCann, of Bamford Avenue, Derby, went on the run for almost a week as she failed to turn up to Aylesbury Crown Court.
Earlier today (February 16), she admitted to two counts of causing death by careless driving whilst under the influence of alcohol.
At around 11.10pm on Monday 9 August last year, McCann was driving northbound on the M1 between junctions 14 and 15 when she collided with a white Scania HGV.
A third passenger, a two-year-old girl, and the driver of the lorry were not seriously injured.
McCann is due to be sentenced on April 25 at Aylesbury Crown Court.
Investigating officer, Sergeant Dominic Mahon, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Bicester, said: “This was a tragic incident in which two young children lost their lives.
“My thoughts remain with their family at this incredibly difficult time.
“Thankfully they will not have to go through the ordeal of a trial due to McCann’s guilty pleas today.”
