Residents frustrated as fireworks continue long after Bonfire Night

Buckingham residents are frustrated and concerned about fireworks after Bonfire Night.

The neighbourhood event at Bourton Park on November 2 was a success, but many people report hearing huge explosions days later.

For pet owners, young families, and others with sensory sensitivities, the cacophony has turned a fun night into anxiety and inconvenience.

Local homeowner Anna Mitchell said, “My dog has been cowering for days because every night there’s another round of fireworks. Seeing him upset is heartbreaking.”

Many parents say their small children are afraid and can’t sleep due to the disruption.

Local parent Sarah Johnson claimed, “My kids are waking up afraid because they hear loud fringe late into the night.”

It “is no longer just one night of celebration—it affects their school days and our evenings.”

Buckingham residents want local authorities to do more to combat extended firework use, which is not uncommon.

Residents hope fireworks users will have greater regard for their neighbours and communities. Many hope future gatherings will be peaceful with requests for private firework use limits.
