Running for Charity at the 6th Buckingham Half Marathon

The 6th Buckingham Half Marathon took place on May 12 2024. The race started at 9:30 am.

Held by Buckingham and Stowe running club, the event attracted runners of all abilities. This year’s profits support Buckingham and Winslow Young Carers and St Mark’s Meals.

The race followed a beautiful rural route. Runners enjoyed quiet lanes and paths through Leckhampstead, Wicken, and Akeley.

The route featured a scenic, undulating 13.1-mile lap. It showed the stunning Buckinghamshire countryside and was suitable for both beginners and experienced runners.

Starting and finishing at Maids Moreton Playing Fields, the route was anti-clockwise. It was a short walk from Race HQ at Buckingham Rugby Club.

Runners and spectators appreciated the organisation and friendly atmosphere. The communal spirit was strong, making it a memorable day.

The event was a success, raising funds for local charities. It brought together fitness enthusiasts and supporters.

The Buckingham Half Marathon continues to be a highlight in the local running calendar. It is a testament to the dedication of the running club.

Medals and trophies were awarded to winners, with the event also hosting its first kids’ marathon.

The children’s marathon was a hit, encouraging young runners. It added excitement and family fun to the day.
