RuPaul’s Drag Race UK promises to be “dirtier” than the US version, according to this year’s contestants.

Scardey Kat, a 20-year-old drag queen from Wiltshire, said fans should expect a “dirtier, grittier and edgier version”.

Ten British drag queens will be introduced tonight alongside the new judging panel.

Michelle Visage, one of the judges alongside Alan Carr and Graham Norton, said it has taken five years to get the show on British television.

Gothy Kendoll, a drag queen from Leiceister, said: “We come from a more campy background and it’s all about having a laugh. In the US they’re from a pageant background where it’s more about presenting yourself in a very polished way.”

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK is on tonight at 8pm on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer.
