New cases of coronavirus victims rose by 260,000 in the last 24 hours. The World Health Organisation (WHO)stated that this recent increase marks the largest number of cases in a day since the start of the pandemic.
The WHO also stated that this is the first time that the number of daily infections has reached over 250,000, with most of the cases from US, Brazil, India and South Africa.
Currently, the total number of confirmed cases around the world has surpassed 14 million, with over 600,000 deaths.
