Buckingham Live Weekend ’24, a three-day music and dance festival, lasted from Friday, May 24th to Sunday, May 26th. The event converted Buckingham into a vibrant performance hub, attracting large crowds to various venues throughout the town.
The festivities began on Friday night with live music at the New Inn, soulful sounds from Adam O’Connell at Mey Mediterranean Bar & Grill and an Acoustic Night at The Granary in Grand Junction. The town was alive with enthusiasm as locals and visitors enjoyed the different musical options.
Saturday brought even more activity, with musicians and dancers taking to the streets. Accent Percussion’s rhythmic sounds boomed over Cornwalls Meadow, and Bollywood sounds dazzled with bright performances on Market Hill.
The Introducing Stage at the Cattle Pens featured young local talent who wowed audiences with their outstanding abilities.
The musical spirit thrived in a variety of settings. The Adstock Singers, Malish, and Dave Catermole & Daniel Buckland all performed at the Mitre Pub. Prego showcased Chris Sagan’s live acoustic music, while The Woolpack hosted Rock Night and B Poetry & Song.
Buckingham Live Sessions and Buckingham Town Council organised Sunday’s grand finale, which was held at Buckingham Football Club. Despite a delayed start due to anticipated thunderstorms, the event began with an opening by Deputy Mayor Cllr Fran Davies and Town Crier Patrick Laws. Gracenotes and Linda Watkins delivered unforgettable performances.
As the rain began during Boogie Woogie Bellas’ performance, the audience was treated to a lively rendition of “Umbrella,” which lifted everyone’s spirits. Adam O’Connell and Woo! maintained the momentum till the sun returned. After the clouds cleared, the crowd joined Fraser for a boisterous Barn Dance, and Bollywood Beats delivered another engaging performance. The festival continued with energetic performances by Dubwiser, Smith & Brewer, Brothers HomeBrew, and Soul City. Pure Genius delivered a fantastic performance, closing the night with the crowd favourite “Mr. Brightside.”
Despite the weather, which hampered some events such as the bouncy castle and live broadcast, the festival was a huge success. Thousands of people attended the three-day events, which featured a diverse spectrum of entertainment suitable for all ages and musical inclinations.
