Burglars raided a popular pumpkin farm over the weekend, days after Halloween, leaving owners counting the cost in tens of thousands of pounds.
The Patch MK farm published a post on Facebook, explaining their site had been targeted on Sunday.
The farm, located in between Buckingham and Milton Keynes, is well known for pumpkin picking in the autumn and for sunflowers in the summer, appealing to both children and adults.
Owners, Joe and Roz Gurney, initially posted on Facebook claiming that the police refused to attend the farm to investigate the crime. But they later reported that South Northants Police visited the farm this afternoon (Monday), adding: “The perpetrators have had a head start, but I have every confidence that the police will now work tirelessly to secure a result on this.”
The Patch MK also offers their produce to both homes and charities across the country, with 64,000 meal donations. They also enhance the local environment by planting over 36 acres of wildflower, over 1000 trees and 47 acres of winter bird mixtures to support bees and wild birds.
In a statement to Facebook, the farm wrote: “Unfortunately last night our site was robbed as we all took a well earned early finish… It’s a sad end to a brilliant year and one which we will bounce back from. Thank you again for your support, we are incredibly grateful for it!”
Thames Valley Police have been contacted for a statement but have yet to respond.
