Buckingham care home resident, Ruby Hill, celebrated her 100th birthday on October 28 with a special celebration.
Born in 1924, Mrs Hill is currently a resident at Care UK’s Maids Moreton Hall on Church Street.
On the day, her daughter, Judith, with the help of the care home, organised for Mrs Hill to hitch a ride in a limo before returning to Maids Moreton Hall for afternoon tea with friends and family.
When asked about her secret to living a long life, Ruby said: “Keep a healthy mind and body.”
Mrs Hill was born in London and grew up in West Sussex. She pursued a career as a civil servant until marrying her husband, Albert Hill, in 1965.
Ina Almasan, General Manager at Maids Moreton Hall, said: “We were so excited to celebrate such a joyous day… it was wonderful to mark this tremendous milestone and hear her very good advice for living a long and happy life.”
Mrs Hills grandchildren often visit her at the care home, allowing her family to be part of the birthday celebrations.
Throughout her life, Mrs Hill was passionate about the outdoors and spent her married life hiking, cycling and skiing. She was also heavily involved in various social clubs including sewing groups, church groups, the RSPB and the Women’s Institute.
Mrs Hill kept active, playing games and sharing her love of the outdoors with her daughter and her grandchildren.
