Aylesbury United Football Club and Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service teamed up to support the White Ribbon Campaign, The UK’s foremost charity dedicated to engaging men and boys in the fight to end violence against women and girls. The campaign was highlighted at Aylesbury United’s first team home match against Welwyn Garden City on Saturday, December 14th, at Chesham’s Meadow.
The initiative encourages men to take responsibility and pledge to never commit, excuse, or remain silent about violence. Both the football club and fire service advocated for respect, equality, and safety, urging attendees to take the White Ribbon Promise.
Dave Brown, Marketing Director at Aylesbury United, stated, “We hope our supporters will join us in taking the White Ribbon promise and raising awareness of men’s role in stopping violence against women and girls.”
Adam Burch, Group Commander of Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, added, “By pledging to take a stand, we can create real change and help prevent violence. We’re proud to stand with Aylesbury United to encourage men to be allies for a safer community.”
Statistics show that 1 in 4 women in the UK will experience domestic abuse, and 1 in 3 will face some form of violence, highlighting the need for urgent action.
