The woman accused of killing Harry Dunn was employed by a US intelligence agency at the time of his death, according to Sky News.
Harry Dunn, 19, died in August 2019 after a crash between his motorbike and a car near RAF Croughton, Northamptonshire.
Suspect Anne Sacoolas had been driving on the wrong side of the road and immediately returned to the US with family after the accident, claiming diplomatic immunity.
An extradition request has since been rejected, with both Donald Trump and Joe Biden refusing to send her back to Britain.
At a court hearing in Virginia over the potential dismissal of claims made against Mrs Sacoolas, it has been said that her work as part of an intelligence agency was “especially a factor” in her leaving the UK.
Radd Seiger, spokesman for the Dunn family, said: “Given the admission in open court by Mrs Sacoolas’ counsel that she was employed by US intelligence services at the time of the crash, the UK authorities must now urgently reinvestigate whether she had diplomatic immunity.”
