Buckingham’s Lace Hill Snake will be officially opened by Buckingham’s new mayor, Margaret Gateley, on Tuesday 29th June at 11am.
An idea to give children on Lace Hill something creative and fun to do during lockdown has resulted in a permanent exhibition of stone snakes which all the community will be able to view.
The location of the snake has been moved outside the Lace Hill Community Centre gates and is embedded in concrete.
Landscaper Rhett Marshall, Lace Hill resident, kindly offered to do the work for free.
The idea came from local resident Zoe Buckle who had help from 16-year-old Tom Oakton who created the snake’s head.
Zoe said: “It’s nice for the children to have something that they can come back to.
“It gives everyone a sense of worth, a sense of belonging. It just shows how everyone pulled together.”
