Buckingham’s Edible Woodland project is undergoing additional expansion on its grounds in 2023. The environmental community project was created for town and residents of local villages by Buckingham Transition, a group working to address issues of climate change and local sustainable practices.
The venture was originally brought to Buckingham to enhance the well-being and beauty of the community by encouraging local people to grow edible and useful plants in a natural, sustainable way and increase social interaction in the community.
The forest garden has expanded in the last few years on the land lent by the local Council and boasts a wide variety of plant life including trees, self-sustaining herbs and shrubbery for harvest by members of the community.
Plans for further expansion are in place due to the growth and achievement of the edible woodland program with hopes to increase volunteers, cultivate new plantations and invite more donations to the scheme in 2023.
