The Buckingham Summer Club is making a triumphant return this year, promising an exciting lineup of free activities for families, the bucks herald reports.
The charity has provided free entertainment at four different sessions for local families during the summer break.
The grand finale will take place on Wednesday, August 30th, at the Buckingham Community Centre.
A huge variety of activities is designed for kids aged 3 to 9, along with their parents or caregivers. From temporary tattoos and glitter fun to crafting an owl using a brown paper bag, the options are endless. Youngsters can also engage in playtime at the dinosaur table or try their luck fishing for sharks and unicorns.
The club is all about quality family time and creative inspiration. Parents will have the chance to gather ideas for cost-free activities they can enjoy at home and an opportunity to meet other local parents and caregivers in a friendly setting.
At the end of each session every child can choose a book to take home and a knitted toy, courtesy of the local Buckingham Library Knit and Natter group.
An activity bag will also be distributed, containing resources for crafting at home. There will be a separate food bag too with some fruit and snacks for families to enjoy a picnic together in a local park.
Throughout the session free refreshments with healthy snacks for the children of apple slices, peppers, cucumber, tomato etc. will be available. There will be coffee and tea on tap for their parents or carers. Every event will introduce a unique sporting or discipline experience to the children.
Past events featured Bollywood Dance and karate sessions and proved very popular. At the last Summer Club on 30th August there will be Drama Workshop sessions for those who are interested.
The Buckingham Summer Club was set up by Sharon Crossman and Jill Townsend in 2019, the Club aimed to offer free holiday activities for families on a budget. It’s a volunteer-driven effort, sustained by grants and donations from local organizations, all falling under the Swan Community Hub umbrella.
All are welcome although it is principally aimed at those local families who are struggling to make ends meet.
