Footage from a meeting about Buckinghamshire’s Fire and Rescue Service failures has been removed from YouTube.
The damning report by His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services found Bucks Fire Service was “overly reliant” on neighbouring services and “inadequate” at protecting the public. This comes with staff expressing leadership concerns.
A meeting was held on the 24th October by Buckinghamshire & Milton Keynes Fire Authority following the release of this report to discuss the next actions.
The authority redacted footage before posting it to YouTube, claiming its legal team had advised it to avoid the publication of the inappropriate naming of employees.
It is unclear what footage was redacted, but the BBC Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) understands there was disagreement among authority members about the reasons for the report.
HMICFRS inspector Roy Wilsher, author of the report, explained: “senior leaders don’t always act as positive role models” and a finding from last year’s culture survey showed staff do not “trust” those at the top.
Overall the inspection found the fire service to be in need of improvement. Rating the fire service by the second lowest grade in nine of 11 categories with no aspects of the service being rated as good.
