Coronavirus to worsen in the coming winter

Scientists estimated that the UK could be seeing an increase in coronavirus deaths during the second wave this winter. Risk could be reduced if action is taken immediately.

Scientists have also stated that the worst-case scenario would have a range between 24,500 and 251,000 of coronavirus deaths in hospitals alone. Research suggests the virus can survive longer in colder conditions and will slowly spread when people are indoors.

At the moment, there are 44,830 deaths in the UK. Experts are concerned that the NHS will succumb to extreme pressure from both the seasonal flu and the second wave of the coronavirus epidemic.
