Dr Muhammad Tahir Mahmood has published the “Afghanistan and Pakistan: Friends or Foe” research note.
The paper evaluates the present dynamics in Pakistan-Afghanistan relations, with analysis focused on the historical perspective, Afghan migration and the emerging security challenge in the region.
One of the recommendations provided in the Research Note is that Pakistan needs to enhance its military capability to secure its border from any militancy and aggression because it is a matter of the state’s peace, security and survival.
The Research Note was published via the South and South East Asia Security Research Centre (SSEASRC) at the University of Buckingham’s Centre for Security and Intelligence Studies (BUCSIS).
The SSEASRC develops scholarly analysis of the South and South East Asia security environment.
The SSEASRC website states, “The aim is to inform citizens, policy-makers and partners alike of the best approaches to solving the security challenge, based on a deep, empirical and objective analysis of the contemporary situation on the ground.”
