Sony Pictures has broken their silence about the recent news regarding the webslinging superhero crashing out of the MCU.

The film rights to the character are owned by Sony, but Sony and Marvel Studios signed a deal in 2015 that allowed Peter Parker and his alter ego to appear in the MCU in films such as Avengers: Endgame, which recently surpassed Avatar as the biggest-grossing movie of all time.

Sony says it hopes things “might change in future”, and thanked Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige for his “help and guidance” with the Spider-Man franchise.

Feige has played a big creative role in the construction of the MCU, and is responsible for integrating Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

British actor Tom Holland is yet to speak out about the revelations.
