The RSPCA have released shocking figures showing that the number of animals that have been abandoned by their owners in Buckinghamshire have soared.

The figures released show a 20% increase in abandonments and represents the highest number of abandonments the county has seen for the last three years.

The animal welfare charity has also released figures relating this issue to the cost of living. The RSPCA is also expecting the total number of abandonments to increase over the winter.

Dermot Murphy spoke to Bucks Herald and said: “We’re desperately concerned concerned about the coming winter months in Buckinghamshire -abandonments have soared in the recent months and many rescue centres are full to bursting.”

The Bucks Herald has also reported that cold days during December and January will be more common after the average temperature of November remains above the historic average.
