Apple have revealed new emojis that represent disabled people and promote diversity.

According to the BBC, the new emojis include wheelchair users, people with walking sticks, and people with hearing aids. The new emojis were revealed on World Emoji Day on 17 July.

An apple spokesperson said: “Celebrating diversity in all its many forms is integral to Apple’s values. These new options help fill a significant gap in the emoji keyboard.”

Other icons include prosthetic arms and legs, animals, clothing and food items. Around 20 new emojis have been announced, with more icons to follow in the Autumn launch.
