Mother’s ashes stolen in overnight burglary

A daughter has launched a social media in the hopes of being reunited with her mother’s ashes.

On the early hours of Sunday 29th October, a number of items were taken from the home in Wicken. Amongst those was the urn containing the ashes.

Sophie Edmonson, has launched an online appeal to find the crafted item, said to be of huge sentimental value.

Her mother, Hannah Aquarone, had passed away 6 years earlier from pancreatic cancer and wanted to leave something behind, for her family to remember her with.

The urn was designed by Hannah herself, hiring local artists to create the inscription and carvings of field mice on the lid and snowdrops, bluebells and holly around the base.

Between 1am and 3am items were taken from the property on Wicken Park Road. Police are searching for two offenders, whom they believe were using a long-wheel-based white van, that could be a Ford Transit or Mercedes Sprinter.

In the online Facebook post, Sophie explained: “My mum’s beautiful urn with her ashes in has been stolen (along with a lot of other things). I am absolutely lost for words.

“I have absolutely no interest in finding out who did this but I would give anything to get her ashes back.”

The post has been shared over 4,300 times on social media.

EDIT: It was announced on Monday the 6th November via Facebook that the urn had been returned safely over the weekend. Sophie Edmonson shared her thanks to the local community in the update.
