River Great Ouse taking over Buckingham

single image

The town of Buckingham woke up this morning to submerged parks and roads. Chandos Park, Bridge Street Play Area, and the Waitrose car park are all underwater and closed off to the public. Despite all the water, Buckingham is only under a flood alert (meaning that flooding is possible) but with the rising river levels showing no stopping, a severe flood warning (meaning danger to life) may not be far away.

In Buckingham, there have been four significant floods – in March 1947, December 1979, April 1998 and July 2007.
