Buckingham Film Place increases ticket prices

The Film Place is Buckingham’s own local cinema, located in the new theatre in the University’s Vinson Building on Hunter Street.

Recently, The Film Place has faced increasing costs and has struggled to maintain the service. Whilst they are a not for profit charity, and also claim to have full houses at some screenings, they have released a statement saying they cannot sustain making a loss.

As a result, from the start of May tickets are being increased by 50p and have to pay the standard booking fee. This means an adult ticket will cost a total of £7.55 and a student/child ticket costing £5.39.

Purchased tickets can be cancelled up to two hours prior to the start of a screening. Customers have a choice of a refund, less the booking fee, or an exchange of the tickets for a film on the current booking list as shown on The Film Place website.

The cinema area also offers for sale a range of confectionery, ice cream, soft drinks and even occasionally wine!)

The community theatre is hopeful to continue with support from the local area and from the 1 May the following movies are available to purchase tickets for:

  • M3gan (Sci-fi/Horror)
  • A Man Called Otto (Comedy/Drama)
  • Lunanu: A Yak in the Classroom (Comedy/Drama)
  • The Whale (Drama)
  • Tar (Drama/Music)
  • Corsage (Drama/History)
